Cookie pledge for charity exceeds expectations: Mrs Fields

Mrs. Fields Cookies’ pledge to donate 100,000 cookies to charitable causes through November and December has been met with an overwhelming response from charity groups and organisations alike, all hoping to get a share of the cookies for their own fundraising endeavours or events.

The pledge, which was facilitated through a specially designed application on the Mrs. Fields Australia Facebook page, has had thousands of applications since its launch at the beginning of November, exceeding expectations.

“The response to this initiative has been absolutely overwhelming. There are so many people out there doing wonderful things for great causes and we are very happy that we are able to help them out”, said Debbie Benefield of Mrs. Fields Australia. “If only we had a million cookies to giveaway!”

There has been a range of groups taking advantage of the initiative, from local school fundraising groups to large charity organisations, such as the Starlight Foundation, Variety the Children’s Charity and Barnardos Australia.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead – including Bandaged Bear himself! – took advantage of the opportunity last week, fundraising on site everyday for their Nurses Scholarship program, raising more than $5000.

“It is wonderful to be able to help these organisations who work on behalf of a variety of causes that can greatly benefit from the profits of the cookie sales,” added Benefield.

“What this initiative has really shown to me is that the demand for charitable donation is more present than ever. If companies are looking at similar donations of their products and services, they be can confident they will get a response.”
