The franchised Melbourne law firm Franchise Legal is partnering with Brisbane based Walsh Halligan Douglas lawyers.

Franchise Legal was founded by Ilya Furman in 2009, and a year later appointed its first franchisee, Adams & Partners lawyers in Sydney.

Furman, who has worked in franchising for the past 10 years, is aiming to position Franchise Legal as a law firm that provides personalised expert legal advice exclusively to the franchise industry.

“I wanted to provide an alternative to the top tier national firms to franchisors and so I looked to partner with local more focused teams in other states by franchising my firm Franchise Legal.” Furman said.

“I chose Walsh Halligan Douglas as our Brisbane partner as the firm has a long history as a commercial Queensland practice.”

Matthew McCormick of WHD said “We believe the franchising model offers opportunities for our clients to prosper. Being committed to the franchising arena, we have invested in the right people with the right expertise to deliver genuine advice and insight in an area that has its own unique issues. We see this being of benefit to franchisors in particular.”
