THE PORTUGESE WAY!

When Antonio arrived from Portugal in 1986 and opened a small shop in North Bondi, few Australians knew much about Portuguese food. But with great ingredients, real flame grilling and plenty of Portuguese passion, he quickly changed that. His proper Portuguese Flame Grilled Chicken (butterflied, basted and cooked the traditional way) and his now-iconic chilli sauce soon had people travelling from miles around.

From those flames came the Legendary Bondi Burger, a creation that helped Australia fall in love with Portuguese-style chicken. As the menu grew, everything stayed true to our roots: big flavour, real fire and unmistakably Portuguese twists on burgers, wraps, bowls and more.

Today, with over 200 restaurants across Australia, that same spirit remains. Simple ingredients, real flames and warm Portuguese hospitality, that’s The Portuguese Way, and it always will be.

At Oporto, we love great food and great people and Australians just love our Bondi Burgers (over 7 million sold every year!). With three years of strong sales growth and a fresh, vibrant menu, we’re expanding fast across the country, with over 50 new restaurants planned over the next three years.

HOW IT WORKS

If you’re customer-focused and passionate about delivering great service, we’d love to hear from you. During the interview process, we look for strong leadership, solid business skills and the ability to manage costs, cashflow and team performance, and we follow a clear process to ensure we’re the right fit for each other because a successful partnership depends on everyone working toward the same goal.

STEP 1: Make an Enquiry
Tell us which location you’re interested in and submit your enquiry. A member of our friendly franchising team will be in touch to gather some more details so we can get to know you better.

STEP 2: Application & Confidentiality
Before we can discuss financials, you’ll complete an application form and sign a confidentiality agreement, followed by a short interview with one of our Franchise Managers.

STEP 3: Due Diligence

Here we dive into the details, including:

• Financial due diligence
• Business and cashflow planning
• State Manager interview
• Asset and reference checks
• In-store experience

STEP 4: Final Approvals
You’ll then meet the CEO, a great chance to connect with the team and share your vision for the business. Meanwhile, we finalise the remaining approvals in the background.

STEP 5: Training & Education
You’ll complete an 8-week training program designed to equip you with everything you need before opening day.

STEP 6: Opening Day
Your store is ready, and we’ll be right there with you to ensure everything runs smoothly from day one.
