The parent company of Fastway Couriers Australia/NZ will form a joint-venture with Australia Post to target the global e-commerce marketplace.

The plan centres on the acquisition of Australia Post’s StarTrack International business by the newly-formed JV.

Aramex, which acquired the Fastway franchise chain earlier this year, also plans to divest to Star Track its Sydney based MailCall operation which provides three levels of courier services.

According to Logistic Business Review, Australia Post will handle the last mile delivery services in Australia for parcel volumes generated by the JV.

Aramex CEO Hussein Hachem said “We look forward to combining our resources and expertise to build a compelling global e-commerce delivery platform.”

Australia Post group CEO and managing director Ahmed Fahour said “This alliance with Aramex will help us grow the Australian e-commerce market, capturing more inbound e-commerce parcel volumes and will provide a platform for outbound growth, particularly for Australian small businesses.”
