Another acquisition for RFG

Retail Food Group Limited (RFG) has announced that it has reached agreement to acquire the Big Dad’s Pies franchise system.

Big Dad’s Pies brings the number of acquisition transactions announced by the franchisor in the past month to four.

According to RFG CEO, Tony Alford, Big Dad’s Pie’s menu is complemented by that of the Brumby’s Bakeries franchise system – also acquired by RFG recently.

Big Dad’s Pies will be aligned to and be developed under the umbrella of the Brumby’s system, and represents a further opportunity to add a successful, value accretive business capable of providing additional scale, revenues, synergies and intellectual property expansion to the company’s retail food franchise system portfolio, he said.

Alford also explained that the acquisition allows RFG to take advantage of new opportunities given the pie franchise’s outlet network is principally situated in strip and other locations that differ from the shopping centre environments of the Group’s existing franchise systems.

This opportunity is consistent with the company’s endeavours to proliferate its franchise systems in non-traditional site locations given the tempering of new shopping centre developments and consequential reduction of prime site opportunities therein, Alford said.

The Big Dad’s Pies franchise system comprises 37 south-east Queensland based outlets.
