9 insights into the Touch Up Guys business

Franchise Business

Touch Up Guys’ recruitment manager Craig Scott explains just why the auto services brand is well-placed to welcome new franchisees.

How long has the business been trading?

Touch Up Guys has been operating in Australia for more than 35 years and has been franchising the majority of that time. The business has grown into one of Australia’s best-known mobile automotive cosmetic repair brands.

What does it cost to buy a franchise?

All franchise territories are different but typically require an investment of $150,000 to $200,000. This investment secures an already successful business, complete with customers, equipment and all assets, database, forward bookings. This makes the business ‘turn key’ from the new owner perspective.

In addition to franchising opportunities, we have a limited number of new locations, currently not represented by Touch Up Guys. In these areas, we are able to offer a significantly reduced investment. From as little as $54,800, we can offer a business management agreement. This comes with an exclusive territory, and includes full training, vehicle fit-out, tools, training, branding and operational support.

What are the core areas of your company’s business?

Touch Up Guys specialises in mobile cosmetic automotive repairs including paint scratches, bumper repairs, headlight restoration, paint touch-ups and general cosmetic refurbishment. We service retail customers, dealerships, fleet operators and insurance-related work. We come to you.

Who is a typical customer?

Our customer base ranges from everyday vehicle owners through to dealerships and commercial fleets. We are increasingly focused on attracting younger vehicle owners and conscious consumers who value repair-over-replace solutions.

What makes your brand stand out from the competition?

Touch Up Guys combines a nationally recognised brand with a long-established operational system and mobile convenience model. Our franchisees operate with lower overheads than traditional body shops while benefiting from proven repair methods, territory support and established industry relationships.

We also include an in-house developed mobile platform for managing leads, scheduling, quoting and invoicing with all leads passed through free of charge.

Why is this a good business for a franchisee to buy into?

The business offers a relatively low entry point into the automotive sector, strong brand recognition and the flexibility of a mobile operation. Franchisees can build recurring customer relationships while operating in an industry with consistent demand for cosmetic vehicle repairs.

Which element of franchisee support is the most well received?

The most valued support is typically our hands-on operational guidance and ongoing technical assistance. Franchisees appreciate having direct access to experienced support staff who understand both the technical and business aspects of the industry.

How many hours a week does a franchisee typically work?

This varies depending on the individual and stage of business growth with operator managed schedules; however, most franchisees operate about 40 hours per week.

What drives your growth strategy?

Our growth strategy is focused on measured, sustainable expansion with an emphasis on strong business support and territory performance. We prioritise long-term franchise success over rapid market saturation.

What are your expansion plans for the next five years?

Over the next five years we aim to continue expanding strategically throughout metropolitan and regional Australia while strengthening relationships with dealerships, fleet providers and commercial partners.

One key area of development is the continued evolution of our franchise recruitment and support systems, including improved digital lead generation, operational technology and training pathways designed to help operators scale more efficiently.
