Petrol and convenience store chain 7-Eleven has announced it will take on the West Australian market in 2014. It plans to open 11 WA stores within the next year, and 75 over the next five years.

A mix of standalone convenience stores and fuel stores are expected for the state, and the company is seeking both new and existing franchisees to invest in a piece of WA’s approximately $270 million convenience market.

The company’s CEO, Warren Wilmot said WA’s growth has fuelled the brand’s interest there.

“Economic and population growth in Western Australia, and boosted demand for convenience stores in the state, has helped make this expansion a reality.”

He explained the company is excited to offer people in WA the opportunity to invest in their own 7-Eleven franchise.

“Since our first store opened in Victoria in 1977, we have been giving our franchisees the chance to work towards a prosperous future for themselves, and their families, by owning their own franchise. We are very excited to expand these opportunities into Western Australia.

“Consumers have been asking us for some time when we were coming to Perth, because they are desperate for a great fuel and convenience offer. I’m pleased to be able to tell our fans that we’ll see them in WA soon,” added Wilmot.

WA stores will stock the brand’s core offerings, including fresh food products, coffee, Slurpees, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and eServices products such as money transfer kiosks and electronic gift cards.

WA locals can also expect to find products that are more specifically tailored to them. “We look forward to working with franchisees and the commercial retail development industry in Western Australia, to meet the ever changing needs of the convenience customer,” Wilmot said.
