Bakery cafe franchise Pie Face has signed a memorandum of understanding agreement with Rick Aylett and Ajay Grover that will fuel its expansion into the Indian market.
The agreement outlines Aylett and Grover, both of whom have experience in the food, beverage and hospitality markets in India, Asia and Australia, will act as exclusive development partners for the Indian market.
The pair will be responsible for:
- Managing the Pie Face Pvt Ltd brand in India
- Acting as the brand’s point of contact in India
- Appointing Indian master franchisees for specific territories across the country
Wayne Homschek, CEO, Pie Face said the brand is pleased to appoint Aylett and Grover to manage its expansion into India.
“The Indian market is beginning to develop in terms of QSR food brands expanding through the market. The territory has a very large and growing middle class of over 170 million people, and represents a significant long term growth opportunity for the company,” he said.
Discussions with potential Indian master franchisees have begun, and Aylett and Grover will select those franchisees that possess the required experience, expertise and resources to ensure the brand succeeds in its new market.
Grover is confident Pie Face will prove popular in India, and he said its offerings will be altered to reflect the new market.
“We believe the Pie Face brand and offering will be very successful in the Indian market. While a large portion including the sweet products would already be ideal, a new range will be tailored to meet the Indian customer’s tastes, with special attention paid to developing an extensive range of vegetarian pies.
“There are no beef or pork products on the Indian menu. The brand will have strong appeal to all ages, especially the young adult market which comprises of over two thirds of the Indian population,” he added.
