International health giant, Anytime Fitness has been named a Top Global franchise for the twelfth straight year.
Compiled by Entrepreneur magazine, the Top Global franchise list is based on key selection criteria that takes into account system size, growth rate and financial strength and stability.
Anytime Fitness global opening rate of over 300 new gyms every year makes the franchise chain one of the fastest growing models worldwide.
Chuck Runyon, Anytime Fitness CEO and co-founder said the international recognition was a testament to the entire network of franchisees and master franchise operators.
“This designation as a Top Global franchise for the 12th consecutive year is a credit to our international franchise development team and our fabulous group of international master franchisees,” Runyon said.
“Whether it’s Australia, the Netherlands or Japan, our franchisees are providing our members with personal service and a wealth of training options that produce real results. That personal touch and high level of engagement is what differentiates Anytime Fitness from many other gyms and what has strengthened and grown our brand worldwide.”

Since the doors opened on the chain’s first Australian gym in 2008, Anytime Fitness has grown to become a health powerhouse Down Under. In just over a decade, the brand has amassed a network of over 500 clubs across the country.
“When we opened the doors to the first Anytime Fitness club in Australia we knew it would be a great fit,” Justin McDonell, Anytime Fitness Australia co-founder and chair said.
“It came at a time when Australians were catching on to how important their fitness was yet did not have access to a gym that ticked all the boxes in terms of accessibility, flexibility and affordability.”
The Australian co-founder said he was proud of the achievements of the local network, particularly in light of the Top Global franchise recognition.
“Our individual gym owners are doing well financially, and our members value having 24-hour access to our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. We expect the Anytime Fitness network will keep growing so that we can continue to provide our members with unlimited opportunities to improve their health,” McDonell said.
Top global franchise aspirations
While the Anytime Fitness global honours are currently front of mind, the brand’s attention is quickly turning to a wealth of new initiatives.
The brand has announced plans to continue its development in the Middle East region, Europe and Latin America, in addition to launching its Antarctic adventure expedition.
Raj Kumar, VP of international said an easy to replicate model was a critical element in the Anytime Fitness global strategy.
“One of the keys to our success is that our business model works virtually anywhere,” Kumar said.
“Individual franchisees are able to make a good living while providing affordable and much-needed services to people in their respective communities.”
