Hotel chain Accor has grown its network with the addition of a Mercure Hotel in the north of Melbourne and a re-brand in Canberra.

The former Rydges Canberra Eagle Hawk Resort has been rebranded to Ibis Styles Eagle Hawk, taking the Canberra portfolio to five hotels. The 151 room hotel is set amongst 30 acres of natural landscaped native gardens.

The re-branded Ibis Styles Eagle Hawk joins four other existing Accor properties in the ACT region.

In Victoria, the former Rydges North Melbourne hotel has been rebranded to Mercure North Melbourne. The 70-room hotel includes two food and beverage outlets, three meeting rooms and a swimming pool.

The addition of Mercure North Melbourne brings the total of Mercure hotels in Victoria to over 10 and more than 40 Mercure hotels across Australia.

The Mercure brand has also transformed its Sydney airport hotel and added ‘International’ to its name .

Located just minutes from the International Terminal, Mercure Sydney International Airport offers guests a suite of activities designed to banish jetlag (including bushwalking in the Wolli Creek Valley just opposite the hotel).

The new look includes marble floors imported from Turkey and comfortable lounge chairs in the lobby; new glass top work desks have been installed in guestrooms along with plush new chairs and sofas, iPod docking stations and flat screen televisions, dark wooden and leather bed heads and new bathroom fittings.
